Recently I was playing on Apskaft on the vctf stars level, i went to take the flag and used the lightning gun to shoot some guy who was standing by (and obviously defending) the flag. I shot him once before realizing he was typing, but then finished him off with another shot, oblivious to the fact that I had done something wrong by doing this. I had 100add, so I 'sped' away, and at about halfway back to my base i was kicked from the server. Completely confused to why this had happend, i went back on and "mameApA]", the guy i shot and the one who kicked me, explained that the punishment of kicking me while using speed and carrying the flag, suited the crime of type killing.

Before this game I had thought that if you're going to type in the middle of any game, it's your problem if you get killed by standing out in the open. Surely there is nothing wrong with 'typekilling' - am i expected to not shoot this guy who

If you're in the hunt, you're a target. Whether you move, stand, jump or suffer a lagout. Sparing someone that's not actively hunting could be considered a noble act, but killing him is NOT something that's to be frowned upon, and especially not something that deserves punishment!

Idd, for all you know he could have been issuing tactical team messages and the moment you grabbed the flag he would stop typing and hit you in the back! Getting kicked for what you did is way overkill but the admins at apskaft are know to be trigger-happy Do as Anni suggest and post you message at apskaft naming both guys!

My reaction to typing is simple; If I know the typer is not really playing or in a non offensive/defensive position I will usually leave him alone.

If i was the one getting shot at when typing I'd hate your for about 15 seconds, hunt you for all I'm worth. but then after those 15 secunds I'd be all normal again. cus hey! I'd do the exact same thing ^^

well, i dont think its fair that he kicked you. And its not a crime to typekill...but you will definetly get respect when u see someone typing and then wait till he's finished...and then fight him. i really respect the people who do that when i check out scores or when i am typing.
But the get back to the incident...you say that if you didnt shoot him....he would stop typin and shoot you..but when he wasnt typin at all you would have had to fight him too. But you should have been kicked...i typekill too sometimes...mostly its too late when i realize. And when u do typekill on purpose...just say sorry after it...like you didnt meant it...works too

thanks for the replies, next time ill just shoot him once maby and pretend i didnt realise...

im not gunna take it up with apskaft tho cos it may just turn unto an unecessary argument, but i think if you're going to type, either do it quickly or out of the way. However i still think every1 does it (typekills), so you can hardly punish someone because of it. Neway, in the future ill try and avoid killing people when they are typing...especially admins (who ApA seem to have rather a lot of imo).

But i always type in a corner too. Else its my own fault.
But as ani said...its really noble to wait for someone thats standing still (checking scores or typing)..and wait till he's finished and then start the fight. you will really get alot of  :)respect for those deeds.

Server rules say that regular players can't fakenick, especially if the person has admin rights So I see a definate rulebreaking by an admin here, not u Jonny. Typekilling IS disturbing but u can't always see what the "typer" is actually doing - maybe he's sniping u instead It really depends of a situation whether to have mercy on the "innocent" or just brutally murder it And godamn, if u type in open space, not facing wall or corner, expect to be killed and just deal with it
So yeah, shame on our admins (once again ). If something like this happens to u again, Jonny (or to any of u wh0rez) I suggest to raise ur voice - otherwise those damn admins get too cocky

It seems that our admins have had a lot of bad days recently..
Our server has become more like a prison - if you make even a little bad move what "an admin who is having a bad day" doesn't like it, then you get bunished for it. Most regular ones who use to play a lot in our server, just won't play there anymore, cauz they are AFRAID of our admins.. they are underpressure that next move they make might not please the admin.. or whatever...
My point is that, yes, our admins should step back a little bit and not be so hasty to kick pkayers.

Well im not a admin though that kicks someone without a reason,kicks comes from me only when i see the player teamswitches alot or just got a bad mouth against all moving and non moving objects.Language breaking rule is the most pop one that someone gets kicked for,the english rule.

There is tough stuff to take care of like admin abuse wich is a problem at the moment..no need for names either.

It exists to bring improvements..or do the players think we shut down their line if we dont like what we see? or is it that some people cant read or find the adress in the server?
or ask after the server adress?..or even google 'Apskaft' or altavista? whatever..

complaining is easy doing..but its really much talking and no action if they dont even voice up.

ok.. "afraid" was maybe a bad word...
but there are many players who are just too lazy (or don't speak english maybe?), so instead of whining/complaining they go to another server.

So what do u know about where i was standing atm this happened? And why i was standing there typing? As far as i can recall it was a regular teamswapper again... So i found it extremely annoying of Jonny here to typekill me and then use a speedcombo when i was alone there anyways. If he payd alittle attention to what was going on he knew about this also. Its not fair play to typekill someone like that when u know he is typing, and u know his team is undermanned becaus of a teamswapper. If this wasnt this old i could go get the serverlogs and describe exactly what happened, but whats for sure is YOU mitchrix dont have any idea of what happened, cauz you wasnt there. You only want to have your own thoughts about it. So please speak up when u got facts infront of you man.

We all know of ur triggerhappy finger regarding all sort of admin's "fun features" (especially slapping and kicking) so I think YOU don't have much to argue here anyway.
Concerning the past situation u should have been angry at the teamswapper, not at Jonny. He might have been in such a capping dash that he missed the swap
