Ok, there's one thing I'd like to know: how can u add custom music to maps ::) This question is mostly for u, Jonny, but if anyone else feels to know the answer, be gracious and share that with me ;)
I know the "level properties->audio->name of track" thingy on client side but I was wondering how can u add a track that "travels" with a map, like in a package or smth. So the music I added in the map would be downloadable to everyone who DLs the map from the server, especially UT server.
UT2004 recognizes only .ogg file extensions as music, UnrealEd therefore offers a possibility to convert music into .umx packages (package that holds a music file) that can be included into the map itself. I read some tutorials how to make an .umx package [with .wav (samplerate 22050, mono, 16bit) and MODplug tracker] and realised that UT2004's UnrealEd was worthless converting my trackerfile. It didn't even manage to import my *.it or *.s3m file into music browser ??? far from saving as .umx.
So I tried luck with the oldschool stuff - UT99's UnrealEd. Yay, it worked. I got my .umx package in the end but when I opened it in UT2004's editor again, it crashed all the application >:(
QuoteBad import index 21/2

History: IndexToObject <- ULinkerLoad<<UObject <- (LinkerLoad Package.LinkerLoad252 154)) <- UStruct::Serialize <- (Class battle.battle) <- UState::Serialize <- UClass::Serialize <- (Class battle.battle) <- LoadObject <- (Class battle.battle 154==154/6250165 151 6249983) <- ULinkerLoad::Preload <- PreLoadObjects <- UObject::EndLoad <- UObject::LoadPackage <- UEditorEngine::SafeExec <- (LOAD FILE="C:\Documents and Settings\GuRu\Desktop\battle.umx") <- UEditorEngine::SafeExec <- (OBJ LOAD FILE="C:\Documents and Settings\GuRu\Desktop\battle.umx") <- UEditorEngine::Exec <- (OBJ LOAD FILE="C:\Documents and Settings\GuRu\Desktop\battle.umx") <- UUnrealEdEngine::Exec <- WBrowserMusic::OnCommand <- WWindow::WndProc <- WWindow::StaticProc <- MessagePump <- MainLoop

Real strange. What went wrong? :-\ Did Epic really proscribe music importing for fearing of huge piracy wave that would have followed with all those ppl adding copyrighted music? Or am I just dumb to figure things out here how to add .ogg files to the map/package? ;D

EDIT: made some things clearer a bit

Leon

i had the same problem :
Open Music and SElect Open then find a music u want but dont open it.now right click somewhere? outside the map.
Select Level Propites and Open Audio.then where is located Song Type the Song name you choosed

: Example : Audio > Song > KR-Rankin.if it wont work then i dont know.

Nice try Leon but that information was known to me already ;)

Mr.Sunshine

I dunno if this is helpful but this map includes this kind of "travelling" music i think. Maybe you can find solve the problem by analyzing it

Yup, it has a separate track (.ogg file) coming along with the map but I don't know if it's possible to set it in the server so when u DL the map, u get both files: the map and the music file ::)

[offtopic] does anyone know if it is possible to make your own horn?  ;D

Molgan[ApA]

The music in 2k4 is broken I guess, if u want custom music in a map the .ogg has to be a separate file. This is not a problem for the redirect, if the .ogg is in the redirect it will dl just as with the map, if it's not in the redirect the map will load anyway without the music. U can add a tune as ambience on full effect thou, but ppl who want to play without music will be upset because they cant shut it off. :) DM-(GU)-NYC-TrainRC2 is an example where this has been done (omg I hate that map..)
I killed Santa

Leon

well here it works(Audio > Song > *Song name*)
